![]() ![]() I force myself to watch all commercials on Hulu for educational purposes □ Watching commercials is great inspo for this because you’ll see all the key elements included in the type of videos we create in eLearning: VO, b-roll, entrance/exit animations, graphic elements, text on screen (but only the important stuff!), etc. In terms of how to get good, it’s all about practice! I like dissecting work that others have done and trying to figure out how to do it myself. An easy way to do this is for section dividers! Canva has a bunch of pre-made templates and page animations that would take ages to recreate in Camtasia. I’ll even export animated slides from Canva’s video editor as MP4s and add them into Camtasia for some extra flair. I really love pairing Canva with Camtasia. But I love the tool and always recommend folks get really comfy with using it. There are a lot of features in Camtasia that I never use, and I’ve been using it for years. You’re right it’s not hard, but there is a learning curve and it can look daunting. Last pro tip: Use the magnet icons on the timeline to pull things together to avoid any accidental gaps in your project! Fade music on and out by adding audio points on the track for an extra professional touch. This works especially well for builds of information (like many bullets on a “slide”-that would actually build over 3-4 individually exported PNGs)Īnother thing: If you’re using background music, don’t forget to adjust the gain if you have VO… that’ll make it easier to hear the VO without having to turn the volume of the background music down by too much. That’ll make a nice stacked effect with a very subtle transition. Add an entrance fade animation to the second “stair” but don’t fade the one below it out. If you’d like to get fancy, layer the PNGS on the timeline just ever so slightly-like a staircase.Adjust the length of each slide to play for the length of the video.I usually add narration to the bottom track. Add your VO (or record it in Camtasia). Then, insert them onto your timeline in sequential order on a single track.(PowerPoint, GSlides, Canva, etc.) Make them look as nice as you’d like in the design tool first. Export a batch of 16:9 presentation slides as PNGs.To practice, try recreating an ILT presentation in Camtasia: timed slides to narration. I try to stick just to fades and slides to keep things buttoned up. Building from scratch in Camtasia is needlessly complicated.Ĭamtasia’s animations can be super corny. Here’s a few hacks: Try to keep your timeline clutter-free by doing as much design as possible in another tool, then adding graphics to the media bin and working with them there.
